Sound Mat Examples
You do not need to make a sound mat! If you would like to though here is an example and the items you need to create it. You can easily use magnetic letters, the individual letters cut apart, a whiteboard and marker or pencil and paper instead!

Blending and Segmenting Words *this is done for the New Concept and Sample words box on the Home Practice sheet.
Word Chain Example *you can use magnetic letters or do this activity on a small whiteboard or even with pencil and paper!
Sentence Practice *this can be done on the dotted lines on the Home Practice page.
Irregular Word Practice- to practice irregular words use the blending and segmenting strategies. If there is a heart under part of the word, talk about how you just have to remember that part of the word. You could also use letter tiles, white boards and paper and pencil to practice spelling irregular words. See home practice sheet guide to help navigate how to explain an irregular word or ask your child!
